It should not stand in thy posterity,/ still that myself should be the root and father/Of many Kings. -Banquo, Act 3, nip 1These lines are very important to the story of Macbeth, because it shows that Banquo is finally figuring out that Macbeth whitethorn have done something terrible to become king. The witches claimed Macbeth would first be Thane of Cawdor, then Thane of Glamis and finally King. He realizes that as soon as the weird women told Macbeth he would be King, Macbeth may have taken it too far and cheated the prophecies.With bare-facd power sweep him from my sight/And bid my will avouch it, yet I essential not,/For certain friends that are both his and mine,/Whose loves I may not drop, but wail his fall/Whom I myself struck down -Macbeth speaking to the Murderers, Act 3, setting 1This quote is significant because it shows how Macbeth can have a very dark and malicious disposition. He r ealizes that Banquo has caught on that he killed the King to fulfill the Witches prophecies. He thinks that if he doesnt get Banquo killed, he will be the one getting killed. He yells at the ghost of Banquo in front of all of his dinner guests, who dont see Banquo. And quit my sight shows that Macbeth is frightened by the sudden sight of his deceased companion. The cause of his hallucination could be because of a heavy weight of regret on his conscience.And that well might advise him to a caution to hold what distance his wisdom can provide.
